The Dragon (Fire Down Below)
A dragon was sitting cleaning his teeth
With a crab and a bucket of snow
When he noticed an odd thing happening beneath
There was smoke coming from Down Below
Now dragon’s are masters of fire and smoke
As most of you probably know
But it usually comes from out the mouthOr from out the snout
Not from a region that’s much further South
(Or East or West if they’re flying about)
Not from a place Down Below
He thought of his cronies who liked to poke fun
Smirking and sniggering so
Producing cigars and intoning deadpan
‘Give us a light as you go’
He started to feel a mild sort of pain
Just there … that’s right … just so
A genuine warmth that might help to explain
The smoke coming from Down Below
For a dragon whose system was so out of whack
With a reversed polarity so
How would he know which way to face an attack
Or aim from a place Down Below
So now in high pain he jumps in the air
In the rain and the permanent drizzle
Like a gymnast performing just so
And lands in the bucket that’s conveniently there
With a lot of steam and sizzle
And feels great relief
From his erstwhile beef
As he puts out the fire Down Below
There’s only one thing that I need to explain
About this whole predicament
He’d been sitting on a chimney the very whole time
Not realising that this was so
And by blocking the outlet in the cement
He had caused all the problems Down Below
