Self Advice
When you tell somebody else what to do
The person that you’re talking to is you
The things we don’t like in another soul
Are the things that are stopping us from being whole
So always act on your own advice
If you want to see the gates of Paradise
We always know what our shortcomings are
Even if we’d rather not look too far
And we always want to make ourselves get better
Though we try to redirect the ‘Clean-up’ letter
By writing 'Not known at this address
Please forward to someone else’s mess'
The more we voice the same 'You ought’a'
The more we’re pointing at our own loose mortar
And the longer we put off our own repairs
The harder the work and the higher the fares
So listen closely when you start to remonstrate
And take your own advice before it’s too late
