Australia in Profile
J: Tonight we would like to present a Look at Australia in Profile. Australia is a sunburnt country; a land of dust and
G: The Ashes
J: A land of mateship, comeradeship and censorship. A land whose national character is derived from its pioneering beginnings.
G: In fact every Australian is justly proud of his bush inheritance
J: Only if he inherits enough to enable him to live in the city
G: Australia they rightly say lives on the sheep's back
J: Mainly because the overseas companies are fleecing us
G: Australia is a free country
J: So far the US hasn't to pay anything for it
G: Australia is a land of opportunity
J: And most people with the opportunity go overseas as soon as possible
G: Those who remain are very interested in Foreign Affairs
J: Yes! The Keeler Affair. Liz Taylor's affairs
G: Australians are very aware of our overseas commitments and look after the Americans
J: Yes! America looks first and Australia looks after
G: All Australians, especially the youth, are peace lovers
J: I'll say. Only the other night I heard a bloke down the pub say, "Geez you would have loved the little piece I had last night"
G: And finally but not least, all Australians are patriotic and would defend these shores to our last drop of courage
J: If they ever start producing it here. Until then it's the last drop of Carlton & United
G:You know Julian that last bit is the first remotely positive thing you've said about Australia all night. As someone who left his native land to come and live in the marvellous country of Oz you seem a little ungrateful. I challenge you to say something totally positive about Australia.
J: Right. Australians are a very enterprising people. One man in Melbourne noticing how often the forecast was for patchy rain, made a fortune selling patchy rain coats
G: That will have to do!
